EXTRA SPECIAL SHOWCASE RULES
Please read these instructions and the Showcase Rules carefully. If you have any questions about any part of the Extra Special Showcase you may email extraspecialshowcase@gmail.com.
  • Each act is encouraged to be four (4) minutes or less.
  • The Mid-South Fair is not responsible for equipment, costumes, etc., left at the Mid-South Fair before, during, or after the contest. Please have someone responsible for watching your personal belongings at all times.
  • Accompaniment Track Rules: The Mid-South Fair Extra Special Showcase will accept compact discs (CDs) or jump drives. If you have recorded accompaniment, your track must be the ONLY track on the CD disc or jump drive. To be clear, this means the ONLY track allowed on the medium is your performance track. Please bring TWO COPIES of your accompaniment track, and it wouldn’t hurt to have a copy on your mobile phone as well.
CONTESTANT RULES
  1. Acts using machetes, knives, etc. will not be accepted.
  2. No fire, smoke, or smoke effect will be allowed on stage during the Mid-South Fair.
  3. There is no limit on the number of acts in which a participant can perform.
  4. All props must be inanimate, with the exception of those used by a magician.
  5. Accompanists are permitted on stage but must not assume visual importance in the performance. They are not to be individually acknowledged and will not take a bow with the participant(s).
  6. All persons assuming visual importance in the act must meet all qualifications of the Extra Special Showcase and have been invited as part of the act.
  7. The Youth Talent Committee recommends that all presentations be tasteful and appropriate for the contestant’s age and for a family entertainment venue.
  8. All contestants may only enter and exit from stage left and right. No act may exit or enter from front or backstage before, during, or after the act.
  9. Anything thrown off the stage at any time will be cause for immediate disqualification
  10. A vocalist that accompanies themselves is considered a variety act.
